Providing Minibuses into Schools & Education is a speciality of Minibus World.
We are equally trusted to provide Minibuses to large educational fleets, as to singular minibuses in to individual education facilities across the UK.
With our range of Minibuses available for schools to lease or purchase, you’re likely never too far away from one of our vehicles.
Whether a Primary, Secondary, Academy Trust, Centre of Further Education or Higher Education; Minibus World are able to provide Minibuses tailored to the individual needs of your school or educational facility.
Popular among Schools are Minibus Worlds CanDrive range of Lightweight Minibuses. These are Minibuses with ramps for Wheelchair Accessibility, that are designed to fall below the gross vehicle rate (GVW) which requires a D1 driving licence. This means that the School Minibus can be driven on a car licence as long as certain conditions are met.
A great choice is the Ford Tourneo or their sister vehicle the Ford Transit Custom 320 you can’t say they’re Twins but they do bear a remarkable resemblance to each other, both in looks and value.
The first thing to note is that both the Tourneo and Transit Custom are driveable on a car licence. As 9 Seater Minibuses go, it is perhaps easier to think of them as an MPV or Shuttle Bus. Great for small groups and just as happy in the inner city as adventuring further afield.
Minibus World, based on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border is a leading UK manufacturer of Wheelchair Accessible Minibuses. Our vehicles are equipped to comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER).
You need to know if your are “legally” allowed to drive a minibus? Many of our customers operating Minibuses are school staff or volunteers. The good news is you can drive a minibus on car licence, but you’ll need to ensure the following simple guidelines to driving a minibus on a car licence are followed:
What is a minibus?
First, let’s look at “What is a Minibus?”
The Driver Vehicle Licencing Authority (DVLA) classifies a vehicle with between 9 and 16 passenger seats as a category D1 vehicle, more commonly known as a Mini Bus.
A driver who holds a vocational D1 or (D) Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence can drive minibuses for hire or reward*.
Minibus World is able to provide minibus products that are GBSSTA (GB Small Series Type Approval), IVA Type Approved (where required) as well as manufacturer Design Approved by Stellantis (Peugeot, Vauxhall, Citroen, Fiat etc) and Ford.
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and Carry Capacity are two questions often asked when looking into buying a Minibus. There’s a common misconception that for GVW and Carrying Capacity the Ford Transit in a 17 Seater configuration is the best vehicle on the market. It’s a great choice; but is it the best?
